Nothing happened when I scanned a barcode

MesoMetric opens the manual food form instead

When MesoMetric cannot find a product, it opens the manual food form with the barcode filled in.

There is no "product not found" message.

Enter the macros from the label and save.

It happens once per product

After the food is saved, MesoMetric stores it against the barcode. Scanning the same product opens it with your numbers, with no lookup.

Why a product might not be found

Barcode results come from Open Food Facts, a free food list that anyone can contribute to.

A scan opens the manual form when:

  • the product is not in the list
  • the entry exists but has no usable macros
  • your phone is offline
  • the lookup took too long

In all four cases, enter the numbers manually.

The numbers are wrong

Open Food Facts entries are not checked before publication.

Check the numbers against the product label. Tap Edit / Correct and enter the correct numbers. MesoMetric uses yours from then on.

How to fix wrong barcode macros

The camera never opened

This is a separate problem. MesoMetric requires permission to use your camera.

Enable camera access in Settings to scan a barcode, or enter the food manually.

The food can be created manually instead.
