Permissions on iPhone

iPhone only

MesoMetric requests a permission only when you use the feature that needs it.

What it asks for

PermissionWhat it is forWhen it asks
CameraCheck-in photos, equipment photos, barcode scanningThe first time you use one
PhotosAttaching a picture you already haveThe first time you attach one
NotificationsMeal alerts, rest timer alertsOnly when you set a meal alert
Motion & FitnessLive step counting during cardioYour first live session

MesoMetric never asks for notifications at launch. It asks when you turn an alert on. If you decline, it does not ask again.

Denying a permission never blocks a feature

Every feature has a path that does not require the permission.

If deniedAlternative
CameraAttach a photo from your library, or save without one
PhotosUse the camera, or save without a photo
Camera, for a barcodeCreate the food manually
Motion & FitnessEnter your steps manually
NotificationsEverything logs normally. No alerts are delivered

The meal is saved even when the alert cannot be set.

Turning a permission back on

Open your iPhone's Settings app:

For camera, photos, or notifications — Settings → MesoMetric → turn the permission on.

For live step counting — Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness → MesoMetric.

Motion & Fitness is listed under Privacy & Security, not under the app.

The Open Settings button

MesoMetric offers an Open Settings button in two places: when a meal alert cannot be set, and when live step tracking cannot start.

Everywhere else, open Settings yourself.

If you allow notifications later

Open MesoMetric again. It sets up future meal alerts when it returns to the foreground. The meals do not need to be re-entered.

What MesoMetric never requests

MesoMetric requests none of these:

  • location
  • contacts
  • microphone
  • health data
  • advertising identifier

It does not read or write Apple Health. Motion & Fitness is used only to count steps while a cardio session is running.
