My step count looks wrong

Cardio means walking on a treadmill, riding a bike, or using a rowing machine.

It does not match my phone's step count

Cause: the two numbers count different things.

MesoMetric counts steps only while a cardio session is running. It does not count all day, and it stops when the session ends.

It does not read Apple Health or Google Fit.

Your phone counts every step all day. MesoMetric counts only steps taken during a cardio session.

The two numbers will not match.

It shows zero

Cause: one of three conditions. Check them in this order.

Is the machine a treadmill? MesoMetric counts steps on a treadmill only. Every other machine is entered manually.

This includes the Stair Climber. It has a steps box, but MesoMetric does not count steps there.

Is the permission granted? Your phone requires permission before an app can count steps.

  • Android calls it Physical activity.
  • iPhone calls it Motion & Fitness.

Does the phone have a step sensor? Some do not. MesoMetric then reads UNAVAILABLE.

In every case, enter the numbers manually.

It went back to zero during the day

Cause: RESET was tapped on the Cardio Engine card.

RESET changes only the step number on that card, for the rest of the day.

It deletes nothing. Cardio sessions and History are unchanged. The next day shows a full-day total.

The steps and minutes do not add up

Cause: the Cardio Engine shows two separate numbers. They are never converted into each other:

  • // CARDIO — minutes of cardio today
  • // STEPS — steps taken during cardio today

A 30-minute bike ride adds minutes and no steps.

RESET changes the step number only. The minutes always show the whole day.

The target number is wrong

Cause: the / 10,000 next to your steps is the Daily Step Target.

Open Settings and set a new Daily Step Target.

Nothing happens when the target is reached. There is no alert and no notification.
