How to plan your next workout

Plan Next Workout builds a new plan from a logged session and saves it as a routine.

Build the plan

  1. Open History.
  2. Tap the workout to build on.
  3. Tap Plan Next Workout.
  4. Adjust each exercise.
  5. Tap the save button at the bottom.

Every exercise shows Last time you did and Next time, do.

Changed rows are tagged, such as (+1 rep, +5 lbs).

Adjust a lifting exercise

Tap the chips under Modify existing sets:

  • +1 rep
  • +5 lbs or +10 lbs+2.5 kg or +5 kg if you use kilograms
  • Custom, to enter your own amount

Use Add set or Remove set to change the number of sets. Added sets copy the last row, including your changes.

The minimum is one set.

Bodyweight exercises show the rep chip only. There is no weight to add.

Reduce instead of progress

Every exercise has a Progress / Reduce switch. Set it to Reduce and the chips subtract instead of add. +5 lbs then removes five pounds.

Switching direction does not undo changes already made. Tap Reset to clear an exercise and start again.

Holds and cardio

Holds have +5 s and +10 s chips. Rounds can be added or removed.

Cardio has machine-specific chips for minutes, speed, incline, and steps.

Cardio adjustments require cardio in the source session. If the session had none, your last effort is shown with this note:

Cardio adjustments are not included in this version.

Save it

If the workout came from a routine, choose one:

ChoiceResult
Save as new RoutineCreates a new routine. The original is unchanged
Update existing RoutineOverwrites the original routine

Update existing Routine overwrites the routine you started from, and it cannot be undone. MesoMetric confirms first:

"{name}" will be overwritten with the current plan. This cannot be undone.

The save button stays off until something is changed.

Planning does not start a workout

There is no Start button on this screen.

Plan Next Workout produces a routine. It does not start a workout.

To train it, open Routines and tap it there. MesoMetric states this when it saves:

"{name}" is in your Routines. Start it from there to use this plan.
