How to move to a new phone

MesoMetric keeps your training on your phone only. Moving phones requires moving a backup file yourself.

Do this while you still have the old phone. There is no cloud copy.

Move your training across

  1. On the old phone: Settings → Back up my dataContinue.
  2. Save the .zip somewhere reachable from both phones: Files, Drive, or email.
  3. On the new phone: install MesoMetric and open it.
  4. Open the ZIP file. On most phones, tap it in your Files app and it opens into a folder.
  5. Open the unzipped folder and find the file ending in .json.
  6. Settings → Restore from backupChoose backup file.
  7. Pick that .json file, and confirm.

Pick the .json, not the .zip

Restore reads the .json file from inside the archive. Choosing the .zip itself shows:

This is not a valid MesoMetric backup.

Your data is unchanged. Open the ZIP file and pick the .json inside.

Why my backup file will not restore

What transfers

The restorable data record transfers, including workouts, sets, routines, meals, foods, check-ins, weights, measurements, cardio, recovery, Body Log, gyms, equipment, units, and athlete name.

Photos do not reappear in the app. The image files remain inside the .zip. MesoMetric does not put them back.

What happens to your photos in a backup and restore

Keep the .zip afterwards

Do not delete the archive after restoring. It holds the only copy of your photo files.

Reinstalling MesoMetric

Re-download MesoMetric through the App Store or Google Play account that purchased it. Purchase restoration is handled by the store, not inside MesoMetric.

Moving one routine only

Share the routine as text and paste it into Import Routine on the other phone.
