Why my backup file will not restore
Cause
MesoMetric could not read the selected file and restored nothing. Your existing data is unchanged.
This usually means the backup file itself was selected.
The backup ends in .zip. A .zip file holds several files together. MesoMetric requires the data file inside it.
Fix
- Find the backup file, whose name starts with
MesoMetric-Full-Backup-. - Open the ZIP file. On most phones, tap it in your Files app.
- Find the file starting with
mesometric-data-export-. - Select that file.
The restore preview opens, showing how many records will be restored.

A failed restore changes nothing
A restore is all or nothing. If MesoMetric cannot finish, nothing on your phone is changed.
A line beginning Detail: may appear under the message. It is diagnostic information.
If it still fails
Check four things:
- the file name starts with
mesometric-data-export- - it came from Back up my data or Data Export (No Image Files)
- MesoMetric is up to date
- no workout is open
A Machine Export and a Coach Report cannot be restored. Both are read-only formats.
