How to import a routine

A routine is a workout plan you save so you can use it again.

A plan can be pasted into MesoMetric as text instead of typed in.

"Import" means bringing that text into the app.

How to import

  1. On the Command Center, tap Routines.
  2. At the top, tap Import.
  3. Paste your text into the box.
  4. Tap Preview.
  5. Check what MesoMetric read, and correct anything wrong.
  6. Tap Save All.

Each day in your text becomes its own plan.

How to lay out the text

Put each day on its own line. List that day's exercises under it.

Write each exercise on its own line, with its sets on the lines below.

A set is one group of lifts you do in a row, and you rest after each set.

One day

Day 1: Chest
Bench Press - Flat
100 lbs x 8
100 lbs x 8
100 lbs x 8

The line 100 lbs x 8 means you lifted 100 pounds 8 times. Keep the space between the number and lbs.

If you do not have weights

Write the sets and reps instead. A rep is one lift.

Day 1: Chest
Bench Press - Flat
4 sets 8 reps

Several days

Day 1: Chest
Bench Press - Flat
100 lbs x 8
100 lbs x 8
100 lbs x 8

Day 2: Back
Barbell Row
95 lbs x 12
115 lbs x 10
135 lbs x 8

Day 3: Legs
Back Squat
185 lbs x 5
185 lbs x 5
185 lbs x 5

This creates three plans, one for each day.

Cardio

Cardio means a treadmill, a bike, or a rowing machine.

Give cardio its own day. Put each value on its own line.

Day 1: Cardio
Treadmill
Duration: 20 min
Speed: 3
Incline: 5
Distance: 1 mi
Steps: 2500

Keep a space between the number and the word after it. Write Duration: 20 min, not Duration: 20min.

How to import cardio in a routine

Use one subject per day heading

Put one thing in each day heading:

Day 1: Chest · Day 2: Back · Day 3: Legs · Day 4: Cardio

Checking the preview

The preview shows what MesoMetric read, before anything is saved. Each day appears as a card.

On each card you can:

  • rename the day
  • correct any exercise
  • tap Remove to delete one

Three notes can appear:

  • Maps to… — the exercise matched one MesoMetric already has.
  • New custom exercise — the name is not recognised and is saved as your own exercise.
  • Needs review — those lines could not be read. They are shown but not imported.

MesoMetric does not change the text you pasted.

Before you can save

Every day needs at least one exercise.

If a day is empty, Save All stays grey. Correct that day or remove it.

A note may state that some exercises will be saved exactly as written. They can be renamed later in the Routine Editor.
