How to set a meal alert on Android

Android only

MesoMetric can show a notification when a meal is due.

Set an alert

  1. Open Meals.
  2. Tap a meal, or tap + Add meal.
  3. Set the Time.
  4. Turn on Alert me at meal time.
  5. Tap Save.

Meals with an alert show Alert · {time} on their card.

An alert needs a time in the future

Two things must both be true, or no alert is set:

  • the switch is on
  • the meal has a time that has not passed yet

A meal time on its own never creates an alert. The switch must also be on.

A time that has already passed creates no alert. Logging a meal you already ate creates no alert.

Turning the switch on without a time shows:

Select a meal time to enable the meal alert.

The alert repeats until stopped

On Android the alert repeats about once a minute. The screen states this next to the switch:

The alert will repeat every minute until you select Stop Reminder.

Stop Reminder is a button on the notification itself. There is no stop control inside the app.

To stop a repeating alert:

  1. Pull down your notification shade, or find the MesoMetric notification.
  2. Tap Stop Reminder.

The notification also carries the line Repeats every minute until stopped.

Allow precise timing

After saving a meal with an alert, Android may request one more permission:

Allow precise meal alerts
For dependable meal-alert timing, allow "Alarms & reminders" access for MesoMetric. Until then the alert may be delayed by the system.

Tap Open settings to open it.

Not now does not switch the alert off. The alert may arrive late.

Turn an alert off

Edit the meal, switch Alert me at meal time off, and save. Clearing the time also removes the alert.

Deleting the meal removes its alert.

What the notification says

The title is Time to eat. The body names the meal.

It contains nothing else. No notes, no macros, no photos, and nothing about your health.

If alerts never arrive

Meal alerts use their own Android notification channel, separate from the rest timer.

Muting or switching off that channel in Android's settings silences the alerts. MesoMetric still shows them as on.
