How to import meals

Meals can be imported from pasted text, such as coach notes, an exported day, or your own log.

Import a day of meals

  1. Open Meals and go to the day you want.
  2. Tap Import meals.
  3. Paste your text into PASTE MEAL TEXT.
  4. Tap Preview.
  5. Check what MesoMetric read, and correct anything wrong.
  6. Tap Save.

Meals are added to the day you were viewing, not to today. Check the date first. The screen states which day it is importing into.

Preview stays off until you paste something.

Text layout

Start each meal with its number and time. List one food per line.

Meal 1 - 8:00 AM
Whole Eggs 30P 2C 20F
Oatmeal

Add a food's protein, carbs, and fat if you have them. A food name on its own is also accepted.

Accepted formats

These formats are all accepted:

  • 40P · 40 p · P 40 · P:40 · Protein: 40
  • 32g protein
  • 700 kcal · calories: 700
  • Times like 8am, 12:30pm, or 14:00

Times are normalised. 8am becomes 8:00 AM.

Missing macros stay empty. MesoMetric never fills a gap with a zero.

Lines like DAILY MACROS or Total: are treated as summaries. They do not become meals.

Check the preview

Each meal found becomes an editable card. Change the label, time, macros, or notes. Tap Remove to delete one.

Lines that could not be read appear under Needs review:

These lines didn't match a meal shape. They are not imported but kept here so you can decide.

Lines under Needs review are not imported. Enter them manually.

If nothing matched:

No meals were parsed from the pasted text.

Check that each meal starts with a meal number.

Validation before saving

MesoMetric checks the numbers first:

One or more macro fields is not a positive number. Fix it or leave it blank.

A blank macro field is allowed. A negative or non-numeric value is not.

On success:

Meals Imported
Saved {n} meals to {date}.

Limitations

Importing adds to the day. It does not replace meals already there.

Importing never sets an alert. Add a meal alert afterwards.
